People suffering from the immunodeficiency virus (HIV) can control their condition at home using a portable device similar to that used by diabetics, writes the Air Force.

Scientists from the three largest research centers in London have been given 2 million pounds sterling to create a high-tech device that will allow an assessment of the body's condition by analyzing finger blood.

Microscopic sensors will measure the level of HIV infection and warn about possible deterioration of well-being.

Such information will provide an opportunity to address a specialist and prevent undesirable consequences before they occur, experts say..

According to the researchers, this device will allow the patient to monitor his own health and consult physicians exactly when it is necessary, and not during a routine check every three months. This method of control is very convenient for patients and for doctors, say the developers of the device.
