Children with high IQ are more likely to be born in women who have suffered nausea during pregnancy in the morning, Canadian scientists from Toronto.

Experts invited to participate in the study of 121 women who became pregnant between 1998 and 2003. The children of the subjects underwent IQ tests at the age of three and seven years. Researchers also took into account factors that could influence the child's intelligence, such as the level of maternal IQ, the amount of alcohol consumed by the mother and the socioeconomic status.

It turned out that between the morning sickness of pregnant women and the improvement of neurodevelopment of their offspring, there is a connection. Scientists believe that nausea is a by-product of changes during pregnancy levels of certain hormones known as human chorionic gonadotropin and thyroxine. The fluctuations in the level of these hormones help the body to make sure that the growth of the placenta occurs correctly and the baby receives all the vital nutrients.
