Surgery to reduce excess weight reduces the risk of cancer in women, but in men, a similar procedure does not have the same effect, researchers reported, according to an online edition for girls and women from 14 to 35 years Pannochka. Net Obesity is known to increase the risk of many types of cancer, but it was not clear whether an anti-obesity operation helps reduce the risk of cancer. Specialists for more than 10 years have observed the 2010 obese patients who underwent surgery for weight loss and compared with 2,037 obese patients to whom other forms of treatment were used or none at all. The study was published in the journal Lancet Oncology.

It turned out that among women after the operation, much less participants in the experiment became ill with cancer than in the control group. The difference was approximately 42%. However, there was practically no difference between men in both groups. Experts believe that the impact of surgical intervention causes hormonal changes in women, which leads to positive results in the prevention of cancer, and in men, most likely, such changes do not occur, experts suggested.
