The lives of children who are seriously ill due to genetic abnormalities of the immune system can be saved thanks to a more secure bone marrow transplantation, doctors say.
A team of scientists from London offers treatment of sick children in sterile conditions, which will almost completely give up chemotherapy.
For bone marrow transplantation, physicians use antibodies to purify the patient's bone marrow from their own cells and create a space for the donor's stem cells. The study was published in the medical publication Lancet.
According to experts, this discovery is very important, as the use of chemotherapy leads to a number of deviations and side effects for patients. Therefore, the operation and treatment in sterile conditions with the use of antibodies, possibly, will save the lives of seriously ill children.
