Specialists from the National Association for Kidney Disease in the US claim that a quarter of a million Americans have narrowed arteries of the kidneys, which violates the blood supply of these organs. This condition is typical for people older than 50 years and leads to an increase in blood pressure, and in some cases - even kidney failure. Annually, one in six people who have a narrowing of the arteries of the kidneys is dying. About 16% of patients who are diagnosed with this problem are being treated for angioplasty. In the course of the study, experts examined the condition of 400 patients who received drugs to lower cholesterol, control blood pressure and prevent the formation of blood clots. In addition, the scientists studied the condition of 335 patients who underwent angioplasty. As a result, after three years after treatment, in both groups, mortality rates, heart attacks, strokes, heart failure and decreased kidney function were almost identical.

However, 20% of patients who underwent angioplasty experienced complications in the first month after surgery. In particular, two died, three were amputated fingers or limbs, in five cases renal failure occurred, four were hospitalized with internal bleeding.

According to experts, no benefit from the procedure of angioplasty was found out, it is strange that this procedure became so popular and widespread before the scientists confirmed its value.
