After conducting a series of experiments with US Army cadets, scientists came to the conclusion that lack of sleep can negatively affect a person's ability to generalize information and make instant strategic decisions on which his life and the lives of surrounding people depend, according to the Internet publication for girls and women from 14 to 35 years old Pannochka. Net 49 new US Army cadets participated in the new sleep study. Researchers were interested in how sleep deprivation affects the generalization of information, a process for the most part based on instant and intuitive solutions. Generalization of information - the transformation of information about simple private events into information about the presence of some event of a higher level, manifested in private events.

As part of the study, cadets twice passed tests for the ability to summarize information. The first test was carried out after the subjects had a good rest, and the second - after a sleepless night. The results showed that even a slight decrease in the time spent on sleep can lead to a loss of the ability to generalize incoming information. The accuracy of completing assignments for the generalization of information among undersized cadets decreased by 2.4% (70.7% - 73.1%) and increased by 4.3% (74 - 78.3%) when the soldiers rested well.

Scientists believe that it is very important to understand the principles of the brain's work in the field of procedural training, since the generalization of information, the rapid and accurate development of a strategy of behavior, is a critical skill in situations where a soldier needs to make an instant decision about a potential enemy target, a civilian or Colleague.

The ability to make instant decisions is also vital in other areas of human activity, for example, in the fire service, in the police, psychologists explain..

According to experts, inadequate rest can have a very negative impact on representatives of those professions, an integral part of which is the ability to respond quickly. If they need to make an instant decision, sleep deprived people can endanger their own and others' lives, stressed the American scientists. The results of this study were published in the November issue of the magazine Sleep.
