Lung cancer patients will receive safer and more effective treatment with the help of a system developed by researchers from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. Scientists have created a method of administering drugs in the form of inhalations through a nebulizer, excluding intravenous administration.

A new method of therapy accelerates the action of the drug, and also reduces the side effect on the kidneys.

By introducing cisplatin, one of the most widely used anti-cancer drugs in the form of an aerosol, we can apply it to cancer cells and avoid damaging healthy cells, which can be extremely harmful to patients. Treatment will become less burdensome for them, and we hope that this will help them live longer, "the author of the study.

The study is an example of the innovative work of the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences in developing new drugs for the treatment of diseases such as infections, cancer, heart disease and schizophrenia.
