Fruits, perhaps, are the richest source of vitamins. Since childhood, we were constantly told about their benefits. But nutritionists sometimes have to deal with patients who avoid fruits completely because of the content of carbohydrates and sugar in them, while others obviously overeat. But is it possible to eat too much fruit and that in principle means "too much"?.

What does it mean to eat too much fruit? As a rule, people need two to four servings of fruit a day, or one cup, or a piece the size of a baseball. But if the level of activity of a person varies from day to day, its needs for fruits can also change. For example, women often eat one serving of fruit with breakfast, and another - as part of a day meal. But during training you can add a third portion, for example, a small banana before physical exercises. Nevertheless, for active men, adolescents and tall young women with active work, four servings per day are the norm. Some athletes also need to eat more fruits than four servings per day, but this is not common for most ordinary people. Fruits are known to be the main source of carbohydrates. One average apple, a cup of blueberries and a small banana contain 20 grams of carbohydrates. It is important to get a healthy amount of carbohydrates in our daily diet in order to nourish the activity of cells. But when we eat more carbohydrates than we can burn, their overabundance turns into fat. How much do you need to eat fruit? For this reason, the total consumption of carbohydrates, including fruit, should match your energy needs, which are based on height, weight, sex, age and physical activity level. The higher your height and the more weight, the more you need carbohydrates, and hence fruits. Men usually need more carbohydrates than women. Young people are needed more than the elderly, and more active than inactive. Men are on average higher than women, and even with the same growth they have more muscle mass, and therefore they need extra energy.

For example, if you are a small woman who has a sedentary job and you are not a sports fan, then you need to consume fruit much less than a tall, muscular man with physical work. In any case, if you do not burn carbohydrates, then the excess of fruits in the diet is bad for your health! Like to eat fruit in the evening, try to limit your portion, say, one cup of grapes. Otherwise the surplus of carbohydrates will be displayed on your hips or waistline.
