Poet Joseph Brodsky said that without a cigarette and a cup of coffee in the morning it makes no sense and wake up. Unfortunately, it turned out that the combination of smoking and caffeine is extremely harmful to the blood vessels, in particular, this combination leads to loss of aortic elasticity.
The joint action of nicotine and caffeine, as stated in a recent study published in the American Journal of Cardiology, is significantly more harmful than these factors alone. To this conclusion came the Greek researcher Dr. Charalambos Vlakopoulos from the Athens Medical School.
In his opinion, caffeine and nicotine contribute to the release of certain hormones and biologically active substances in the body, controlling arterial functions and regulating blood pressure and heart rate.
