Unsettled personal life makes women increasingly choose IVF

A growing number of single women who have never found their "soul mate" but want children, creates an additional burden on reproductive specialists offering IVF, the Daily Mail notes.. Also in recent years, the number of women using donor sperm.

For example, in 2009, 1615 cycles of IVF were performed in the UK, during which donor sperm were used. As a result, 585 children were born. But by the current year there is an increase of 21% (recorded 1963 cycles).

Professor Gita Nargund, a member of the University Hospital of St. George in London, states: now women do not want to wait, because the biological clock does its job.

But according to the data of the Department of Fertilization and Embryology, in general, the number of all types of IVF in 2010 increased by 5.9% (the number increased to 57,652 cycles).

Over the past year, 45,264 women have resorted to reproductive health services for IVF or ICSI (intracytoplasmic sperm injection). In 74% of cases, women used their "fresh" eggs, and in 17% - frozen. The average age of women undergoing IVF is 35 years. And in 1991 the average was 33.6.
