As a result of a new study conducted by specialists from the Institute of Health of Spain named Carlos III, it was found that after menopause the body of women is not able to receive vitamin D from food in sufficient quantity.

As a result, it can cause an increase in the risk of fat accumulation in the abdominal region, diabetes, osteoporosis and cardiovascular diseases, and may increase the likelihood of malignant tumors. Menopause is a difficult period in a woman's life, both psychologically and physically, because during this period the body is weakened by the need to adapt to metabolic changes, and therefore its ability to withstand various kinds of problems is significantly reduced.

According to scientists, a healthy diet in this period is extremely important, since it can become an ally in overcoming difficult changes in the female body. Spanish researchers analyzed the condition of 3574 women aged 45 to 64 who recently started menopause. In the rest, women were randomly selected. The researchers set a goal to establish - how balanced is the diet of representatives of the control group, and what impact it has on their health. As a result, it was found that most women were eating well, getting enough of all the necessary vitamins and minerals, except for two - vitamins D and E. At the same time, 29% of the examined women were obese, and 42% were overweight.

Given all the peculiarities of the influence of these vitamins on the human body, scientists came to the conclusion that it is the lack of vitamin D that can cause various kinds of health problems in women after menopause.

As you know, the recipe for obtaining a sufficient dose of this vitamin is very simple - it is the use of special products, and sunlight. The recommended daily intake of vitamin D is 5 micrograms - was recently calculated by scientists from the United Kingdom. How much time should be spent in the sun for this, depends on the characteristics of the human body, while the products most rich in vitamin D are mushrooms.
