Daily cycling, for example, from home to work and back, reduces the risk of early death by 40 percent, the likelihood of developing cancer by 45 percent, and twice the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases.



To such conclusions, scientists came during a five-year monitoring of the health status of more than 250,000 British middle-aged.

During this time, 37 cyclists have died, but this number could have grown to 63 if other people used only cars or public transport. These results are equally true for men and women.

Experts note that walking also has a beneficial effect on health, although not as much as riding a bike. Scientists call on people to pay more attention to physical activity.
