The project to create a safe road traffic system was discussed today, on November 26, by the first deputy of the Kharkiv mayor Igor Terekhov with representatives of relevant departments, utilities and the National Police.

According to the official, the project is being implemented in the city together with the European Investment Bank for over 20 million euros.. Cameras will be installed on highways with high traffic - pr. Moskovsky, pr. Gagarin, pr. Science, st. Klochkovskaya, in the central part of the city. “They will record the flow of cars, which will make it possible to correctly set cyclograms for fast passage of traffic light objects at different times of the day.. That is, we will be able to prevent traffic jams on the main highways. Also, cameras will record violations of traffic rules - violation of the speed limit, crossing a solid line, etc.. In addition, cameras will mark the color and license plates of cars, ”Igor Terekhov explained..

According to him, while the information from the cameras will be stored in the KP " In the future, they will be transported to the future Situation Center.

The first deputy mayor said that information from video cameras will be provided to law enforcement officers so that they can quickly respond to incidents.

“The video camera recorded the violator, transmitted the data to our Situation Center, and from there a signal went to the police. Law enforcers drove out, prevented an accident or detained the perpetrators who could have fled the scene. The second is the system of fines for violation of traffic rules. The photo is transferred to our center and from there to the police officers, ”said Igor Terekhov.

He also noted that the city government plans to expand a number of highways with a large congestion of cars.. The goal is to reduce congestion and keep all road users safe.

Igor Terekhov said that the first video camera with fixing traffic violations may work in a test mode on Moskovsky Prospekt.
