To stop the pandemic of the new coronavirus, it is necessary to identify and isolate as many patients as possible. Now for this, mass testing and even tracking technologies are used. However, specialists from the University of South Australia and the Canadian company Draganfly Inc. offer a more radical solution - a drone to search for infected, equipped with special sensors and a computer vision system.
As conceived by the creators, the “pandemic drone” should detect COVID-19 symptoms such as fever, cough and increased respiratory rate at a distance of 10 meters.
This will allow you to identify a potential infected person in a crowd on the street, in the office or in the airport hall and send him and people in contact with him for testing.
In a press release from the University of South Australia, the creators of the drone intend to begin deploying technology to combat the pandemic as soon as possible by working together with governments, as well as with representatives of the commercial and medical sectors. Researchers do not disclose other details about their plans for drone.
