The National Television and Radio Broadcasting Council has agreed on a draft Action Plan for the release of radio frequency bands in the bands 790-862 MHz, 694-790 MHz, which is used, in particular, by Zeonbud for digital terrestrial television. The purpose of the event is the introduction of LTE (4G) radio technology. The draft Action Plan will be sent to the State Special Communications Administration for subsequent approval by the Cabinet of Ministers, writes TeleKritika.
The project provides for re-planning and releasing channels of nationwide digital networks - MX-1, 2, 3, 5 multiplexes (the provider license is from Zeonbud, broadcasts 8 TV channels in each multiplex) and releasing channels in the digital dividend bands of the MX-6 nationwide network (provider.
Further broadcasting of programs that are broadcast in MX-1, 2, 3, 5, 6 should take place in the range 470 - 694 MHz. “In order to realize these intentions, it is planned to carry out the conversion of the radio frequency resource of Ukraine in the public radio frequency bands,” it was informed.
After recalculation of frequencies for nationwide multiplexes, the State Center for Radio Frequencies (UGCR) will be able to allocate an additional radio frequency resource for local broadcasting, said Alexander Ilyashenko, a member of the National Council. Preliminary calculations of the redevelopment of local and regional channels should come from UGCR in April.
As reported, in 2020 there should be a release of the frequencies of the first and second digital dividends, on the part of which a network of digital terrestrial TV is deployed. This issue was discussed at the interdepartmental working group on the transition to the ether figure, which is held at the State Special Communication Service. Zeonbud will have to rebuild its network from scratch, giving its frequencies to mobile operators. Zeonbud wants to do this for the money of mobile operators who will qualify for the first and second digital dividend. Mobile operators are against, because this is the extra money they will have to pay for these frequencies. The companies did not agree on this issue..
Recall, the National Council on December 5 initiated the creation of the state multiplex of digital TV MX-7. MX-7 will operate in the range 174-230 MHz and will cover 158 settlements of Ukraine. On November 14, the regulator decided to order a miscalculation of frequencies from the State Radio Frequency Center for the Air company in 166 settlements for broadcasting in the DVB-T2 standard in the nationwide digital multi-channel multiplex MX-6. This company is changing legacy DVB-H mobile terrestrial television technology to DVB-T2.
