Hackers have learned to crack old iPhones and Macs with fake websites, imperceptibly replacing the domain name letter. This was told by experts in the field of cybersecurity Tencent Security Xuanwu Lab in the company's blog.

Researchers claim that in older versions of the Safari browser, some Unicode characters appear the same as normal letters.. In particular, the Latin letter d in the search box will look exactly like the dum character. And users will not notice the difference and will not be able to recognize a fake link..

The breach in the security system of an outdated version of the browser allows fraudsters to fake pages of popular sites that use the letter d: LinkedIn, Dropbox, Reddit, Wordpress and many others.

After the victim is authorized in the fake service, the attackers will get their data from the original page.

Found by experts, the vulnerability threatens the owners of smartphones and computers from Apple, which are not installed the latest OS updates. Among the potentially dangerous devices, experts noted the iPhone with the version of iOS 11. 1 or later, iMac and MacBook with up to 10 macOS High Sierra firmware. 13.
