Psychological stress increases the risk of developing arthritis, heart problems and lung diseases. This occurs even with a low and moderate level of stress, which still remains a significant risk factor for such diseases as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Researchers from the Southampton Central Hospital in England analyzed more than 16,000 adults who were followed for three years. Compared with people who did not have any symptoms of stress, in the group of those who had it even slightly elevated, the risk of developing arthritis increased by 57%. With a moderate level of stress, the likelihood of arthritis increased by 72%, and at a high level - by as much as 110%. MedickForum reminds that science has long proved the connection between significant stress and the onset of arthritis, COPD, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. And now it is proved that even an insignificant level of stress, which, perhaps, is noted in every second, still poses a serious threat to health.

How do we get sick because of stress? In this phenomenon, our immune system suffers primarily, as shown by a study of scientists from the University of Michigan, the results of which were published in January this year. The researchers found that stress affects negatively the immune cells that must protect the body from infectious diseases. This is what leads to real diseases. In addition to tablets, breathing exercises, yoga and meditation are a good way to deal with stress..
