The music streaming service interviewed 1000 Britons about their musical preferences and listening habits. 60% of people said that they adhere to their musical habits, listening to the same songs over and over, and a little over a quarter (25%) said they are unlikely to listen to new music that goes beyond their favorite genres, Business Insider reports..
According to the results obtained, the maximum age for opening new music is 24. 75% of respondents in this age group said that they listened to 10 or more new tracks a week, and 64% said they were looking for five new artists per month. After that, people's ability to keep up with musical trends is reduced.
Some of the reasons that explain the decline in interest in new music are: confusion from a large choice (19%), employment at work (16%) and care for young children (11%). Almost half of the respondents said they would like them to have more time to devote themselves to finding new music.
"With so much wonderful music, it's easy to feel stunned," says Adam Reed, music editor at Deezer. "This often leads to the fact that we are stuck in a" musical paralysis "by the time we turn thirty".
