Javelins should not be considered a miracle weapon or panacea. Their effect is rather political. Most importantly, the decision to supply was eventually made.

There was also non-public work, which dealt exclusively with technical aspects. Before submitting their proposals for a political decision, the American side held serious training in Ukraine to ensure the terms of delivery of Javelin, the co-director of the foreign policy and international security programs of the Razumkov Center Aleksey Melnik.

Not only did the ability of Ukrainian servicemen to effectively use this weapon was assessed, many aspects were also related to its physical storage, protection of intellectual property, export control issues. Americans should be convinced that this technologically new weapon will not be lost, will not be withdrawn and it will not be illegally transferred to the other side.

And I draw attention to this because, in this way, Ukraine received a certain certificate of reliability and loyalty from the United States. And this opens the way for further ambitious deliveries. After all, if the process has been successfully implemented once, the next purchases or free supplies will be much faster.

According to the escalation that Javelin could have caused, it was more about possible Russian threats. For such arguments are clear refutation - Javelins have the character of a defensive, not offensive weapon. Therefore, taking into account both the nature of this weapon and its quantity, it could not stimulate the Ukrainian side to offensive actions.

Yes, Javelin has an obvious deterrent effect. And I think, if it comes to practical application, then it should be accurately planned operation: not one shot on one tank, but more or less mass application.

And as soon as that side sees that a certain number of their tanks that went to the range of the shot are instantly destroyed with a probability of 100% or so - this will indeed have a significant psychological and tactical effect on the enemy.
