Apple will release a set of augmented reality and will begin selling it in 2020. This is reported by Bloomberg, citing sources.
Unlike the modern generation of augmented reality headsets that use a smartphone as both a processor and a screen, the Apple device will have its own display. It will operate on a new operating system, called "rOS" (short for "reality operating system"),.
The timing of the development may still change, since the ones put in now are very compressed, the sources of the edition.
Apple has not yet decided how users will control the headset and launch applications, but they are exploring for this purpose touch panels, voice activation via Siri and gestures. Engineers prepare for the headset a range of applications, from maps and a set of text messages to more advanced features, including virtual meeting rooms and 360-degree video playback.
According to Bloomberg, Apple began to recruit a team to work on projects related to augmented reality, a few years ago.
Earlier, the publication wrote that the team was headed by Mike Rockwell, who previously worked as an engineer at Dolby Labs. The team consists of several hundred people and is working on projects under the code name "T288".
The first product of the team was the tools that software developers use to create augmented reality applications for the latest iPhone and iPad. Applications create virtual three-dimensional interfaces for online shopping, education and games. This was an intermediate step, giving Apple the opportunity to test the technology on an existing product.
