Biologists found that the death of brain cells leads to a set of excess weight due to an unbalanced diet.
Brazilian biologists have named factors that are the root cause of a set of excess weight.
Based on other scientific works, scientists conducted a series of studies on laboratory rodents. A group of mice changed the usual diet, adding a lot of saturated fat.
Such a diet was to cause metabolic disorders in animals. As it turned out, the intestinal microflora of the experimental subjects did not suffer for two weeks from the beginning of the experiment, but already on the first day of the experiment, scientists saw specific changes in the appetite regulating the neurosecretory cells of the hypothalamus - the region of the brain responsible for the body's homeostasis.
Previously, researchers were able to establish that obesity is caused by disturbances in the intestinal microflora and death of neurons in the hypothalamus, but until now it was not known which of these processes precedes another.
Now, experts are confident: the rapid weight gain is due precisely to the death of brain cells as a result of an unbalanced diet. "In the future, scientists will have to develop a way to restore lost neurons," writes sundaynews with reference to EurekAlert.
