The design language of the actual Sony smartphones goes back to the first model Xperia Z, which was released back in 2013. But in 2017, when the fashion included frameless screens, "dressed" in the glossy, angular cases of the device look somewhat outdated.

As the managing director of Sony in India Kenichiro Hibi said in an interview with Indian Express, his company wants to modernize the line, completely changing the look of the gadgets.

Sony "plans to launch a new generation of products, and you can expect a completely new design from these devices," he said..

Hibi, however, did not specify the release date for new products. According to him, this will happen "soon".

Probably, new smartphones from Sony should be expected not earlier than 2018. Traditionally, the company makes major announcements twice a year: in February, at the Mobile World Congress, and in August, at the IFA in Berlin. Devices are crammed with narrow frames and an elongated screen, possibly with an aspect ratio of 18: 9.
