Russian researchers, together with colleagues from Canada, revealed the effect of flying into space on the protein composition of blood.

The corresponding study is published in the scientific journal Scientific Reports, informs lenta. Ru In particular, they found that the human body responds to weightlessness as a disease, and the immune system includes all kinds of protective mechanisms.

Similar conclusions, researchers came after analyzing the concentration of 125 proteins in blood plasma, 18 Russian cosmonauts. Appropriate analyzes were taken from them a month before the flight, upon return from space and after a week of rehabilitation.

It was possible to confirm that the concentration of proteins participating in the regulation of immunity changed.

Thus, the human body reacts to flight into space as a disease at the molecular level. When flying, adaptation processes to new conditions undergo all types of cells, organs and tissues of a person.

In their work, scientists resorted to quantitative proteomics, determining both the presence of the protein itself and its quantity. In the future, they intend to use a point method to search for specific proteins that affect the body under conditions of weightlessness - this involves giving blood directly in orbit.
