The new head coach of the national team of Portugal is the 71-year-old Fajive Jorge Jesus. This is reported by the authoritative Portuguese sports publication A Bola.

According to Gerel, Jesus himself is the uncontested and main candidate for the Portuguese Football Federation. It is clear that the final task of the mentor is to prepare the team for the two upcoming great tournaments: the European Championship 2028 and the home one for the Red-Greens World Championship 2030.

Jesus's appointment also means his compatibility with the rich leader and captain of the Portuguese team - Cristiano Ronaldo. The coach and the sharp attacker are already looming for a successful completion of their work. Jesus has won over the Saudi Arabian club An-Nasr during the 2025/2026 season.

In just one hour, the team won the championship title, after which the mentor lost his position. Todd Jesus openly stated that he was willing to defeat the team solely in order to help Ronaldo win his first trophy at the Litsariv Nejd warehouse.

Large-scale changes in the coaching position of the Portuguese national team are being planned in light of the team's recent withdrawal from the 2026 World Cup. Forward coach Roberto Martinez announced that he will lose his position after three deaths with the team.

This happened after a minimal defeat of the Portuguese against the national team of Spain with a 0:1 draw in the match of the 1/8 finals of the tournament. The author of the only goal that sent Portugal home was Mikel Merino, and the title of the best player of the match (MVP) went to the Spanish national team's senior Rodri.
