The disciplinary committee of the Portuguese Football Federation punished Benfica head coach Jose Mourinho after incidents in the match against Porto, which ended in a 2:2 draw.

The Portuguese footballer received a disqualification for one match and 11 days, as well as two fines for a total amount of 5355 euros. The coach must pay 1,530 euros for the red card, and another 3,825 euros for the conflict with Porto assistant coach Lucio Gonzalez.

The referee, Joao Pinier, stated that after his team’s goal, Mourinho left the technical area, beat the substitutes and hit the ball directly from the stands, which caused a conflict between the teams.

Through disqualification, the coach will miss the next match of the Portuguese championship against Arouca.

Benfica has already stated that they do not agree with the decisions of the disciplinary committee and may intend to jeopardize the punishment.

The club respects that the incident was misinterpreted and the coach’s actions were not of a provocative nature. The official staff of the Lisbon also stated that not all conditions were insured, considering the behavior of Porto representatives after the match.
