In the 1/8 finals of the African Cup of Nations, Algeria defeated DR Congo with a 1:0 score. A single goal in the 119th season was scored by striker Adil Bulbina, which brought the team to the quarterfinals.
At the start of the match, the Congolese had little hope of opening up the goal: Bakambu dodged a free kick, but Algerian goalkeeper Luke Zidane turned the team. Tsikavo, after the match the legendary goalkeeper’s father, Zinedina Zidane, watched from the stands.
The first half was goalless: DR Congo had at least one shot, and Algeria could not create a dangerous moment.
For the other half of the team, the Algerians did not lose Bensebain through a clash with Luc Zidane, and also lost Ismael Bennacer through an injury.
At the main hour, the two teams were unable to score, so the match went into overtime. Algeria controlled the group, creating chances, but only on the 119th line of Bulbina, having increased the share of the sustrich, breaking under the crossbar.
