Barcelona's financial saga has taken an unexpected turn. The late Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman considers the possibility of making a shocking proposal by raising the Catalan grandee for an astronomical 10 billion euros.

According to El Chiringuito TV, this sum could not less than fully cover the club’s majestic budget, which is estimated at 2.5 billion euros, and would finance the reconstruction of the Camp Nou stadium and provide an unprecedented transfer budget.

The proposal is part of Saudi Arabia’s strategy to expand the flow of world sports through the Sovereign Investment Fund. However, the pleasure is subject to a fundamental problem: Barcelona owes its members (socios).

Unlike most European clubs, Barca is not a private company that can simply be bought. There are thousands of fans who rob the president and confirm key decisions. In order for such sales to occur, the club would change its statute and adopt a historical model of power that is respected as perhaps impossible from a cultural point of view.

President Joan Laporta and the club's leadership have repeatedly stated that Barcelona is not for sale. Experts believe that a more realistic scenario would be an investment of Saudi funds in a number of commercial sectors of the club (for example, media rights and the entertainment sector), without the transfer of full control over the sports industry.

In the face of financial difficulties, Catalans continue to explore ways out of the crisis through economic and sponsorship interests, trying to preserve their identity.
