Italian national team leader Marco Verratti shared his thoughts about the upcoming qualification for the World Championship 2026. It’s worth remembering that Italy missed the last two World Cups in recent years.

" And generations that have not reached this level. My children have never seen Italy at the World Championships,” said Verratti in an interview with Footmercato.

Gravets also guessed about the failure of the past selections, when Italy was left without a ticket to the main tournament of the planet, despite strong results.

“It will be hard, even in other situations, when we were in the air, we were stuck in dangerous situations. We thought: how is it possible that we flew out “We broke the record in 35 matches without defeat, and we are here, not in the world championship,” the midfielder said.

Once the disappointment has passed, Verratti believes his team's new coach is confident of turning Italy back to the top.

“Today we have a coach who really wants to overcome. Vin knows how to convey this fruit to the Gravians. Now, I’m wondering if it’s inevitable that we’ll get through the playoffs again. And everyone needs to be ready for these two matches. I hope we will have success in our battle,” the footballer summed up.

In contrast to their group, Italy sits in another place, giving Norway three points after six matches.
