Donetsk Shakhtar's senior manager Marlon Gomez commented on his life in Ukraine during the war, and also spoke about his versatility in the field and why he received number 30.

“I spent my first days in Ukraine in Lvov together with the team. After the match against Marseille, we turned to Ukraine. Your country has immediately given me a whole spectrum of emotions. It’s greedy, and I express my deepest sympathy to all Ukrainians. Fortunately in Brazil we don’t know anything like this.

But being around a group of close friends who are on the same team – I’m glad I’m not the only Brazilian – will make my adaptation easier. Now I’m calling more and more to your land. Difficulties arise from the constant exposure to the local cold, as they are already different from what we experience in Brazil. It is also sometimes difficult to satisfy your gastronomic needs. And then Ukraine is an even more welcoming country, similar to Brazil. Also, due to the friendliness of people and their openness, my adaptation process becomes easier.

Without a doubt, the language is even more complex – it’s all the same length as the original Portuguese. Whether you like it or not, if I’m on the field, it’s easier to pronounce Ukrainian words, since I’ve been taught a small variety of basic words. It’s also easier to guess them on the field and in the game.

Why did I adopt the position of a chronically depressed person In fact, I can play in different positions, I can achieve a universal. I can be in the role of a lateral, a central attacking defensive player, a central supporting defensive player, and also play as a winger on the opposite flanks. However, the position of the central care provider is my favorite, where I feel most comfortable. Vaughn allows you to completely wander around the field and create magic. My strong point is also turning to defense and cutting off the attack plan. For these reasons, my natural position as a chronically depressed person is less helpful.
