For the fourth time in history, the Ukrainian team of referees has rejected awards for a Champions League match

Ukrainian courts will officiate the match of the 5th round of the Champions League between Bayern and Salzburg.

In the fifth round of the UEFA Champions League, Bayer Leverkusen will take on Austrian Salzburg at the Bay Arena.

As the UAF press service reports, this match will be officiated by the Ukrainian team of referees alongside Mykola Balakin.

Assist on the lines traditionally by Oleksandr Berkut and Viktor Matyash, and the fourth referee will be Vitaly Romanov.



It is noted that the Spaniard Guillermo Cuadra Fernandez and the Italian Valerio Marini are in charge of the operation of the VAR system.

The match between Bayer Leverkusen and Salzburg will take place on Tuesday, November 26. Cob - about 22:00 Kyiv time.

For Ukrainian referees, this is the fourth time in history they have been assigned to a Champions League match. In 1998, Vasil Melnychuk became the head referee of the team Athletic - Rosenborg, and Mikola Balakin is already working in two matches: Real Sociedad - Salzburg in 2023 and Sparta - Brest in the first round..
