Sunil Chetri: Indian football icon announces retirement

A football player deprives a woman of sport 39 years ago.

Indian football icon and national team captain Sunil Four voted to retire after 39 years.

In a video published on Twitter, Sunil said that the selection match of the 2026 Emergency against Kuwait will be his remaining game for the national football team.

" for the sake of us all. let’s play and we can sing with joy,” said Four.

39-year Four played for the Indian national team for 19 matches, scoring his first goal in his debut match in 2005.

Sunil was among the most famous citizens of the region, and he is credited with bringing respect to Indian football at the national and international levels.

At the moment, Chetre is the third highest scorer among football players in international football after Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

133 matches so far, 83 goals scored and 11 assists.

" It wasn’t easy,” adding the Indian.

At their Fatherland Day, the Four won a number of football cities, including the Arjuna Prize - a friend of the greatest sports city of the region - and Padma Shri (the fourth).

During his career, Chetre played for Bengaluru, Mumbai City, Churchill Brothers and Sporting doubles. He has played 299 official matches on the club level, scoring 124 goals and providing 23 assists.
