General Director of Shakhtar Sergiy Palkin reported on the victory of “Girniky” in the Ukrainian Championship for the 2023/24 season.

\! Shakhtar is the champion of Ukraine! We say these words for the 15th time in our club history and in another season after that. And this title, melodiously, is twice as valuable to us, and even because of all the complex circumstances of another fate of a full-scale war in Ukraine. I have said more than once that Shakhtar is a unique club. Ten years ago we were deprived of our dear Donetsk and from then on we are playing without a home stadium, without the support of stands filled with our fans. The remaining two points are especially important: the team may spend the entire hour in a dose, holding championship matches in different places of Ukraine, and European Cup games outside the cordon. This is very difficult from a physical and moral point of view. And therefore, two championships - 2023 and 2024 - are of particular importance for our club.

With all my heart I cherish the first championship title from the independent coaching career of Marino Pusich and his staff. They joined our club during the season, when the team was far from leadership in the UPL, and showed an incredible zeal for professionalism, quickly changing the game and turning the mentality of overcomers into the players. It’s best to compare the numbers: 15 years ago, he won the championship matches - this is a fantastic series, which is still troubling!

This success is the result of the hard work of the football players. Thank you to our Gravians for their tenacity and self-sacrifice, for those who fought on the field in every match like a rebel, for their character and dedication to the club.
