An ex-football player and a great Kermanic member of the national team of Ukraine, having completed his life's journey.

The Football Association of the Sumy region informed about the tragic news on the 29th quarter of 2024.

A long-standing Ukrainian football player and head coach of the Ukrainian national team (2012 – 2016) Mikhailo Fomenko died after 75 years..

Fomenko was the Master of Sports of the International Class, Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, Honored Coach of Ukraine and Georgia, Honored Practitioner of Physical Culture and Sports of Ukraine and Honored Citizen of Sumi.

Mikhailo Ivanovich was born in the village of Mala Ribitsa in Sumy region.

At the warehouse of Dynamo Kiev, Fomenko became the champion of the SRSR for three times, won the Cup of the SRSR for two times, won the Volodar Cup of the UEFA Cup and the UEFA Super Cup.



At the warehouse of the USSR, he became the silver medalist of Euro 1972, bronze medalist of the 1976 Olympics.

In 1993, already as a coach, he brought Dynamo to the first championship in the modern history of Ukraine and won the Ukrainian Cup. In 2001 we reached the final of the Ukrainian Cup against CSKA Kiev.

From the national team of Ukraine, Mikhailo Ivanovich took part in Euro 2016, after which he completed his professional activity.
