The Saudis confirm.
Yesterday, Saudi Arabia will have to play a match for the Turkish Super Cup between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, and ten weeks before the start of the season the group was cut off.
The organizers of the Turkish Super Cup announced the match.
“First of all, we would like to voice what is being written in close collaboration with brotherly Turechchina in various fields, including sports.
We were looking forward to the possibility of holding the match, depending on international football rules and regulations.. These rules dictate that sports must be presented without extinguishers, as there is no connection to sports. This was discussed with the Turkish Football Federation as part of the preparatory meetings and it was agreed upon what the match regulations require.
It was also decided that the national anthem will be celebrated, and in the middle of the stadium and in the stands there will be the ensigns of Turechchina, which is why we value Turechchina.
Regardless of this consensus, it’s a pity that the offended teams did not realize that the match was ruined,” reads the statement from the organizers of the Riyadh Season.
It was previously reported that Fenerbahce had not scored against Galatasaray in three Turkish Super League matches since 1981.
