After the first half, the Belgians were ahead 2:0.

In the match of another round of the group stage of the Champions League, the current Belgian champion Antwerp led after the first half 2:0, losing to Shakhtar Donetsk (2:3). After the match, Antwerp head coach Mark van Bommel shared his thoughts with us.

" Our team was well organized, had little specific behavior on the field, Shakhtar could not resist us, and, to our advantage, ended the half with a score of 2:0. The other half was going to be the other half. We missed one goal, we had little chance of winning 3:1, but it didn’t work out for us. Shakhtar changed tactics and tried to respond in a variety of ways. At the end we could have taken away nothing, but you didn’t get a chance. Also, we can do those who can, – 2:3.

In the first half, the organization of our team was consistently good, in the other half we had to follow our opponent, and this disrupted our tactics, our actions. In addition, the moments passed one by one, and here we got our minuses.

This is a great moment, and even three missed goals will end the unacceptable siege. But again, if we talk about the whole match, in the first half we controlled the situation, but in the other half everything changed. Prote on the field for an hour is playing a lot of speeches that we can’t get into, because they go like a lance one after another. Here an illogical goal occurs, and that’s all. Details often indicate the course of a game, and this was the case here,” quote the Antwerp head coach from Shakhtar’s official website.
