The document was pre-approved at the highest level.

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to attack the population of the entire living ball, so in the midst of another wave of morbidity, Italian football officials were forced to develop an updated medical protocol that would allow us to avoid chaos in the organization of national matches in the near future.

The key message of the new document is to reduce the influence of local health authorities (ASL) on decision-making regarding the placement of teams in quarantine conditions.

The leadership of the country's Football Federation, in turn, suggests using a simple ratio of 35% of the total number of players who are sick to confirm the need to isolate the entire team.

Only in this case, the ASL team corresponding to the base region will intervene in the situation.

Since the maximum number of players in each team is limited by the regulatory norm of 25 people, we are talking about nine sick football players with a confirmed presence of COVID-19.

Additional innovation - everyone who has been in contact with a football player or member of the coaching staff who subsequently tested positive for COVID-19 must undergo a daily test for five days and wear an FFP2 level mask at all times, except for participation in sporting events.

At the same time, the role of having a coronavirus vaccine in the body is now leveled, and even fully vaccinated football players and members of the coaching staff will be forced to undergo all of the above procedures..

In addition, before each match, four hours before the starting whistle, each participant in the confrontation must provide a negative test result for COVID-19.

However, the mandatory vaccination rule does not appear in the final document, despite earlier information that after the adoption of the new rules, unvaccinated players and mentors will not be allowed to enter the premises under the stands..

The pace of vaccination in Serie A, according to the assurances of local football authorities, is impressive - 98% of the participants in the national championship were fully vaccinated in October 2021.
