Bristol Rovers announced the appointment of Joey Barton as head coach in his official twitter account.
Previously, the Englishman headed Fleetwood, but left his post due to poor results. Fleetwood has won only one victory in the last 7 games under the leadership of Barton and after 20 games was in 10th place.
Barton, 38, is a former Manchester City midfielder.. He also played for Newcastle, Rangers, Burnley and QPR. For the England national team, Barton made one appearance in 2007.
Earlier it was reported that Joey Burton smashed the face of a colleague from Barnsley, Daniel Stendel.
