The goalkeeper of Bayern Munich and the German national team Manuel Neuer became the best goalkeeper in the world according to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

Neuer became the third goalkeeper in history (since 1987) who managed to receive this title five times in his career. Before the guard of the gate of Bavaria, such an achievement was noted by the Spaniard Iker Casillas (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012) and the Italian Gianluigi Buffon (2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2017).

Behind Manuel (320 points) in the ranking are the goalkeepers of Atletico Madrid Jan Oblak (40 points) and Liverpool's English Alisson Becker (30).

The goalkeeper of Bayern in the past and current seasons has all national trophies (Bundesliga, German Cup, German Super Cup), as well as a victory in the Champions League and the UEFA Super Cup.

Previously, the German appeared among the winners of this award in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016.

The extended list also includes the goalkeeper of Real Madrid Thibault Courtois (15), Marc-Andre ter Stegen from Barcelona (10), Kasper Schmeichel from Leicester, Keylor Navas from PSG and Samir Handanovic from Inter Milan (5 points each).

Earlier, Neuer was named the best goalkeeper of the year by ESPN.
