The former Catalans mentor intends to sue the club for non-payment of compensation for termination of the contract.
Former Barcelona head coach Quique Setien sues club. The manager believes that the Catalan club has violated its contractual obligations by not paying Setien compensation for the early termination of the agreement, AS reports citing Catalunya Radio.
Spanish mentor was appointed head coach of Barcelona this January. The contract with Setien expired only in the summer of 2022, but in August the coach of the Catalans was fired after losing the Spanish Championship to Real Madrid and a crushing defeat to Bayern (2: 8) in the Champions League quarterfinals.
Dutch specialist Ronald Koeman, who came to Setien's place, is also not happy with the results.
Barcelona is currently seventh in La Liga this season with 14 points in nine games.
The club is doing much better in the Champions League, where the club has already issued a ticket to the 1/8 finals of the tournament.
Barcelona will play its next match on Wednesday, December 2, when in the fifth round of the Champions League group stage it will play against Ferencvaros.
Earlier it was reported that Barcelona saved 122 million euros by lowering players' salaries.
