Current Flamengo coach Jorge Jesusch is Benfica's top priority.

After the dismissal of Bruno Lage, Benfica began to search for a new head coach, however, she will consider other candidates only after she receives a response from Georges Jesus, Globo reports.

Jesus already headed Benfica from 2009 to 2015 and during this period he won 3 championships, 1 Cup, 5 League Cups, 1 Portuguese Super Cup and twice led the team to the Europa League final.

Since the summer of 2019, the 65-year-old specialist has been the head coach of Flamengo, with whom he won the Copa Libertadores, Rekop Syudamericana, the championship and Super Cup of Brazil and became the finalist of the Club World Cup.

The contract with the Flamengo of the Portuguese coach is designed for another season.

If Gesusz refuses Benfica, the “eagles” can turn either to the ex-mentor of Arsenal Unai Emery, or to the coach of River Plate Marcelo Gallardo. In any case, the club management wants to resolve the issue with the coach as soon as possible.

It was previously reported that Benfica had negotiations with Mauricio Pochettino, but the former Tottenham coach would like to continue working in the Spanish Example or the English Premier League.
