So far, the official ban on holding matches is valid only until April 6.

The decision of the Dutch government to tighten measures to counteract the spread of coronavirus made the country's football leaders think about canceling the completion of the national championship. However, a closer reading of the final government document leaves room and time for “maneuver”.

Despite the extension of quarantine until June 1, the text does not say anything about sporting events that are prohibited, until April 6, according to the official website of the Netherlands Football Union. The decision on the future fate of sports in the country will be made additionally before the specified date.

Thus, at the moment, the Netherlands Football Union is considering three scenarios:.

1) to finish the championship now without declaring the champion and without relegation of teams, with the provision of permits in European competitions according to current places and the addition of two leaders of the second ranking division to the top division;

2) resume the national championship after April 6 and end it before June 30 (without spectators, at least until June 1);

3) resume the championship on June 1 and finish it after June 30.

The latter option is possible only if the UEFA ad hoc working group decides to allow matches of the 2019/20 season to be played after June 30, 2020 (currently, according to the regulations, this is not allowed because of the potential draws for the early stages of the Eurocup tournaments of season 2020.
