The UK Police Counterterrorism Department has included the St. Pauli fans logo on its list of characters that could carry a terrorist threat, Deutsche Welle reports..

A symbol with a skull and crossbones along with a swastika and other prohibited emblems was included in the document, which was distributed in schools, hospitals and among other social workers and which should help in the fight against terrorism.

This decision caused a reaction of surprise from the leadership of the club from Hamburg, which is known for its liberal views and anti-fascist movement, and whose fans have repeatedly participated in clashes with neo-Nazis and hooligans in away matches.

At the moment, St. Pauli takes 11th place in the standings of the second Bundesliga, gaining 21 points after 18 rounds.
