The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has notified the Iranian Football Federation about the ban on holding international matches in the country, Al-Awsat reports.
A letter from AFC says that international matches involving Iranian clubs and the national team will be held in third countries.
Iranians do not disclose the reasons for such a decision by the AFC and do not say whether it was connected with a downed Ukrainian plane, which led to the death of 176 people.
"
FFI, from which four teams participate in the Asian Champions League, intends to meet with AFC to express its disagreement with the decision.
