Croatian Football Union expelled Ognena Vukojevic from the Croatian delegation to the 2018 World Cup.
Croatia in? finals of the World Cup beat Russia in the penalty shootout (2: 2, 4: 3) and reached the semifinals.
After the match, one of his heroes, Domagoi Vida, who scored a goal and realized a post-match penalty, said to the camera: "Glory to Ukraine!".
Sitting nearby Vukojevic added: "This victory for Dynamo and for Ukraine".
This caused a wave of indignation in Russia. FIFA studied the incident, but found no grounds for disqualification.
However, the Croatian Football Union decided to still exclude from the delegation the national team of Ognena Vukojevic, as reported on its official website.
"The Croatian Football Union apologizes to the Russian people for the conduct of a member of the headquarters of the national team," reads the statement of the HFS.
"Ognen Vukojevic and Vraga Vida also apologize for words that did not have a political connotation, but can be interpreted in this way".
Match Croatia - England will start on July 11 at 21:00.
