Players of the Swiss national team, Gerdan Shakiri, Granit Jaka and Stefan Lichtsteiner, were fined for their celebration in the match against Serbia.

Ethnic Albanians and immigrants from Kosovo Shakiri and Jaka celebrated their goals, gesturing to show the "Albanian eagle" that offended the Serbs who complained to FIFA. A similar gesture was noted and Lichtsteiner.

FIFA took up the investigation of this case and all three were threatened with a two-legged disqualification for "provocation of spectators and competitors".

However, the players got off with cash fines - Shakiri and Jaka will pay at 8700 euros, and Lichtsteiner - 4350 euros.
