Wilshere announced his resignation from the Arsenal

Midfielder Jack Wilshere said he would become a free agent at the end of June after the expiration of his contract with Arsenal.

"I can confirm that I will leave Arsenal Football Club after the expiration of my contract at the end of June," Wilshire wrote on his page in Instagram.

"After a number of conversations with the club, including the new manager of Unai Emery, I felt that I had no choice but to make a decision based purely on football reasons".

"As it was reported in the press, together with my representative, for several months I negotiated with the club to sign a new contract to extend my stay on Emirates. During these conversations, my intention was always to remain an Arsenal player ".

"I spent 17 years in the Arsenal and always felt part of this club. I so wanted to stay, that recently I even agreed to sign a contract on the worsened financial conditions, just to link my future with my club ".

"Nevertheless, after the meeting with the new manager, I was informed that, although the proposal for an aggravated contract remains in force, my playing time will be significantly reduced if I decide to stay".

"I'm sure everyone can understand that at this stage of my life and career I need to play regularly and after meeting with Mr. Emery, I still have a feeling that it will be very difficult for me to achieve this in the Arsenal".

"Given this, I believe that I have no choice but to consider other options to make progress in my career on the field of".

"I experienced incredible times in the Arsenal and met many friends who will remain so for life. I'm leaving with memories that will stay with me forever. From his debut at such a young age, before playing in the Champions League and, of course, two victories in the FA Cup in a row ".

"We will talk about this at the right time, but now I just want to thank everyone in the club for these 17 years, in particular Arsene Wenger and his staff, all my teammates over the years, all at the Academy for helping me realize my dream, and, of course, the fans with whom I have always had a special relationship. I can never pay you for the love, faith and trust that the fans have always shown to me. For me and my family this meant a lot, and I hope that in the next few years you will be able to celebrate the success you deserve. Thank you".

"I would like to express my respect for Mr. Emery and my appreciation for his honesty and frankness, and wish him, the team and the club all the best in the future".

"Now I will need time to consider all options before deciding on the next stage in my career".

Wilshire is a pupil of the Arsenal, for the first team he played 198 matches, scored 14 goals and gave 30 assists. In addition, Jack played on loan for Bolton and Bournemouth.



Together with Arsenal, he twice won the FA Cup (2014, 2015) and once the Super Bowl of England (2014) Wilshire is the youngest player to go on the field for Arsenal in the England Championship (16 years 256 days) and European cups (16 years 329 days).

In the last season on the account of 26-year-old Wilshere 38 matches for Arsenal in all tournaments in which he scored two goals and gave five assists.
