At a press conference, the President of Bavaria, Uli Hoeness, said that initially Kovacs was not seen as a potential candidate for the post of head coach of the Munich team.

The president said that Bavaria addressed Kovacs only after Jupp Haynkes finally refused to renew the contract, as well as the refusal of former coach Borussia D Tomas Tuchel, who has already decided on his future.
