In early January, Holgate complained to Roberto Firmino. The striker of Liverpool allegedly insulted him on the grounds of racism in the FA Cup match (Liverpool won 2-1).

On a wave of rising noise, fans found on Holgate's Twitter account messages of a homophobic nature, where he called another person a "peck". Subsequently, Mason even retired from Twitter because of this.

As a result, the Football Association of England did not find evidence of guilt Firmino, having justified the player.

But Holgate issued an official warning for homophobia. Now the defender "toffee" will have to undergo a special integration program.
