The midfielder of Jagiellonia, Taras Romanchuk, spoke about the reasons for the change of citizenship.

A week ago, ex-Ukrainian Taras Romanchuk bragged about his Polish passport, and then received a call to the national team of Poland.

His decision to change the citizenship midfielder commented in an interview with Przeglad Sportowy.

"People often talk about me in a negative light. Many people call me a traitor, "Romanchuk began..

"According to Ukrainian law, I do not have the right to have dual citizenship, so I had to make my choice. For several years I lived in Poland and I feel fine here. It is important that my parents, wife and brother support me ".

"The Ukrainian media often translate my interviews, which I gave in Poland, distorting my words. Then about me there are unpleasant comments ".

"In the locker room of Jagiellonia, colleagues often joke with me that I am a" painted fox ". I understand that some seriously consider me as such. Opinions of people are divided. Some people appreciate me, because they know my history well and are happy that I will play for the national team of Poland. Others do not like it, probably they would like to be advocated only by the indigenous Poles. I do not take offense at such people, everyone has the right to their own opinion. My task is to improve the game and become better and better ".

"Who knows, if a few years ago I got a chance in Ukraine, then today I would have successfully played in one of the local clubs and the national team. However, I will not return to ULL any more. This stage of my life has long passed. Now Poland and Jagiellonia can count on me, "said Taras.

Total on the account of Romanchuk 12 goals in 95 games for Jagiellonia.
