FIFA and the International Council of Football Associations endorsed the inclusion of a video assistance system for arbitrators.
On Saturday, March 3rd, FIFA and the International Council of Football Associations (IFAB) approved the inclusion of a video assistance system for arbitrators (VAR) in the rules of football.
According to the Associated Press, the organizations also decided that it will be used at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
The head of FIFA Gianni Infantino said that the arbitrators will receive new technologies to consider controversial episodes on video replay.
Note that the VAR system is already used in the championships of France, Italy and Germany. Its main goal is the prevention of mistakes in determining the capture of the goal, the appointment of a penalty and unfair punishment of players.
